Cork is especially busy at Christmas time as people flood to the city to find the perfect gifts and soak up the festive atmosphere. There are a number of shops and department stores to discover throughout the city. Patrick’s Street is the main shopping street of Cork, and the longest, with big names such as Debenhams, Brown Thomas & Marks & Spencer’s featuring along this bustling street. Located just off this street you will also find Opera Lane, which is a relatively new street featuring some of the biggest names in fashion. The street offers names such as River Island, Topshop, Tommy Hilfiger, Gap & H&M.
Cork’s English Market is also something that is not to be missed when visiting the city. This is a covered market and is one of the oldest of its kind. This market features a range of stalls with wonderful fresh and local produce such as meat, fish, local cheeses, confectionary, flowers, wine and many more delightful items. This street can be accessed from Patrick Street, Grand Parade or Oliver Plunkett Street.
Oliver Plunkett Street is the second busiest street in Cork and is a partially pedestrianised street. This is a very likely street, full of surprises with some wonderful shops and cafés. Oliver Plunkett Street also won The Great Street Award in 2016. Here you will find many various shops from fashion, beauty, home and gifts, where there is something for everyone.
There are also a number of shopping centres surrounding the city. The most popular of these would be Mahon Point which is a short 15 minute journey from the city centre. This shopping centre is host to some of the most popular fashion shops and also features a Debenhams.
